Our Approach

At Move and Play, we know (and best practice early intervention guidelines also tell us) that children develop and thrive best when the people around them and their natural environments support their development of everyday skills and abilities.

Our therapy programs and supports extend beyond our clinic spaces, and aim to help children and families be supported everyday, in real life, to reach their goals and live their best life:

Holistic therapy programs

Children attending our therapy supports will continually be working towards their goals, helping them to develop the skills and abilities to live their best life.  We believe in matching your child’s needs with the most appropriate therapy support, so your child’s therapy support program might include a variety of 1:1 therapy, group programs, intensive programs, community-based programs, parent coaching, therapy kits or online programs, depending on your child’s individual needs.

Therapy in natural environments

A child’s natural environments are the environments in which they spend most of their time: their home, their daycare, their school, and their community.  Providing supports to children in their natural environments is best practice and has been shown to deliver the best outcomes for children with developmental delays and disabilities.

Collaborative ‘teaming around the child’ approach

Many children that we support need the help of more than one therapy to help them to achieve their goals and be their best.  We adopt a team approach to supporting children and families, ensuring supports for your child stretches beyond our therapy sessions or programs, by partnering and working collaboratively with families, daycares and kindies, schools, and other community organisations to provide a collaborative approach to understanding children and supporting them to thrive.

Parent coaching

Right throughout your child’s therapy pathway, our services are designed to provide you and your child with quality information and support, to help you understand your child’s needs and how you can help them, and guidance towards opportunities to help your child.

Pathways out of therapy

Our ultimate goal in supporting children and families is to empower you with the resources, skills, knowledge and confidence that you understand your child’s needs and can continue to manage your child’s needs without or ongoing involvement.  We love seeing children achieve goals and can then get out and just “dive into” participating in life, being the best version of themselves that they can be.

Of course, we always provide ongoing monitoring support if it is necessary, and will welcome children and families back if you need any further assistance or support in the future.
